JOIN us on Saturday, August 8th for an intentional ceremony honoring the ancient Mayan "Burner Day" collective biorhythm.

The intention of this ceremony is to release collective tension & karma through individual processing. Through individual work, we affect the whole. We will work out group karma, purify our community, and focus attention on the need for greater social cohesion.

This month, we will gather INSIDE in Encinitas, CA for a Powerful, Rich Burner Day Ritual honoring the element WATER.

Our ritual will involve sound, mantra, the seven sacred directions, the five elements and our intention to work out collective karma, purify our community, and focus attention on greater social cohesion. At times our rituals involve cacao or other ancient medicinal foods/elixirs to infuse the ceremony with these elements. THIS MONTH, we honor the medicines CACAO & KAVA.

We ask of you to ponder the following BEFORE arriving

:^ ask yourself this question: What do I want to release on a personal level that relates to my community? (example: anger, sadness, inauthenticity, greed, overconsumption, etc.)

^ Write down your answer to the question BEFORE the ceremony, bring it with you, and be prepared to connect with your intention deeply. We will burn this paper during the ceremony.

^ Bring a natural offering from Element WATER to place on our collective altar space. (Example: shell, salt, crystal, algae, water etc.) You can either leave this offering when our ceremony is complete, or take it home with you.

Why August 8th?

August 8th falls 15 days before August 23rd, which is the day-sign 4-MEN, corresponding with the direction WEST and Element WATER. AUGUST 23rd is the next collective "Burner Day".

Why We Are Hosting This Ceremony: Excerpt from "How to Practice Mayan Astrology": "The ancient Maya kept track of a 65 day rhythm that served as a kind of collective biorhythm. The 260-day astrological calendar was traditionally divided into four sixty-five-day periods with four key day-signs standing at the boundaries of these periods. Each of these four days was considered a time to work out group karma, to purify the community, and to focus attention on the need for greater social cohesion. Days of preparation were made for each "burner day" - so named because of the rituals associated with them, which culminated with a fire-walking ceremony that is still performed in some Mayan communities. Having found the burner dates to be associated with 'crisis points' in society-at-large, the Maya deliberately orchestrated emotional purging for their society through planned rituals. They vented their tensions ritualistically, and in conformity with a natural cycle they had observed - a sixty-five-day-biorhythm. Through this approach, the Maya probably maintained a high level of group health and integrity. The actual Mayan ritual for the burner dates ran roughly as follows: Twenty days prior to the arrival of each burner date, leaders would draw attention to the coming date by lighting ritual fires. On or near the actual burner date, some sort of group ritual was held, bringing the entire community together. In this way, the Maya vented tensions and kept the group psychically intact at the same time."
